Why inline search does not solve this. Inline search is a separate, deliberate action taken instead of typing an abbreviation, and it matches on content and label as well as abbreviation, so a large library returns matches the user did not mean. This proposal starts from the keystrokes the user was already going to type, and narrows to snippets whose abbreviation field is an exact match — nothing else.
